Accommodation

Visitors wishing to stay at Sri Ramanasramam should send an email to stay@gururamana.org two months in advance to check on the availability of accommodation. You can also request accommodation by writing a letter at least eight weeks in advance to the President, Sri Ramanasramam, Tiruvannamalai (606) 603, Tamil Nadu. There are rooms to suit individuals, couples, and families. Each room is furnished, and most rooms have attached bathrooms. Hot water for bathing is available during the winter. South Indian-style vegetarian food is served in the Ashram dining hall: breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea or milk, and dinner. Filtered drinking water is available. Medical attention can be arranged when required.

Please email your request to stay@gururamana.org including the proposed date of arrival, number of visitors, length of stay, and date of past visit, if applicable.

Sri Ramanasramam: Accommodation Details and Procedures

Ashram has limited accommodation with basic amenities for fellow devotees from India and abroad.

  • The purpose of the visit and the availability of accommodation are the main criteria for Ashram accommodation.
  • Ashram accommodation is exclusively for fellow devotees of Sri Bhagavan. Visitors coming for general purposes, visits to temples, giripradakshinas, or full moon walks, or using the stay for other spiritual touristic purposes, should plan alternate accommodations.
  • Fellow devotees are advised to choose days avoiding full moon and festival days for their visits.
  • Fellow devotees are welcome to a short stay of three days or nights to absorb the presence and contemplate the teachings of Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi.
  • Accommodation will be provided to singles, couples, or families (maximum of 5 members) as per the above regulations.
  • Devotees have to forward their request for accommodation at least eight weeks in advance through postal letter (President, Sri Ramanasramam, Tiruvannamalai, 606 603, Tamil Nadu) or email: stay@gururamana.org.
  • Requests for revisits shall be made after a gap of at least six months.
  • Requests over the telephone, on an arrival basis, or on shorter notice will not be considered. Requests for a few hours, one day, or an overnight stay will not be entertained.
  • For information about the ashram, its activities, the routine schedule, and all other information and procedures, kindly visit our website at www.sriramanamaharshi.org.
  • There are no charges for Ashram accommodation or food. It is also not extended on a rental or commercial basis. Ashram food is restricted to room guests and inmates.
  • Any monetary offering may be made only at the Ashram office (cashier) and a receipt may be obtained.
